Or, “philosophy,” as the teachers say… Acquiring solid singing technique is like cooking from a good cookbook. The more you cook with the book (i.e. the teacher), the more cooking technique you will acquire. Eventually, you will only have to glance at the cookbook when attempting a new dish. You are already familiar with the methods, why things work the way they do, and what you can do when things aren't going as well as they could be. The same is true for singing. By becoming aware of your detrimental habits and replacing them with new healthier ones, technique will creep its way slowly into the way you sing all of the time. There is no instant fix. It takes courage. It takes dedication.
